I think tablet weaving is my favorite form of weaving. It is so infinitely flexible. Each tablet can be manipulated separately to produce such unique designs. What surprised me about this form of weaving was the extreme simplicity of the actions combined with the almost overwhelming complexity of the results. Tablet weaving was my first introduction into weaving because the material investment in tools was minimal, yet the belts and bands that could be created were exquisite. Inkle weaving I have recently started exploring. I like it because it is a very quick weave that produces beautiful bands. Again, for a new weaver the material investment is minimal.

Here are some examples of looms I've built or tried. Many projects have a file associated with it that goes with my TabletWeaver software which I developed. You can download that software to use free of charge here. |
