Tablet Weaving

TabletWeaver Software

1/4/2008
First, I would like to make clear that this software is FREE to download and use. I created it as a tool to help me weave, and right now I am much more interested in weaving than in software development. That being said, do not expect any further enhancements or fixes. At least not until I get so fed up with it that I have to do it for my own sanity :)

With the advent of Microsoft Vista, some new bugs have emerged however. They are easily overcome, and the software can be used even if you don't do what is instructed below, you just won't be able to print.

Download the setup for the original version 1.2 if you don't already have it.

Run that setup program to install the files required to run TabletWeaver. Then download the upgrade compressed zip file. Unzip the files to your Tabletweaver program directory making sure to overwrite the files there if it asks (c:\program files\tabletweaver\).

If you have problems printing and get an error about VSPRint7.ocx not being registered, follow these instructions:

  • navigate to the c:\windows\system32 folder
  • if you have vista - right click on cmd.exe and choose run as administrator, if you don't have vista just double click on the cmd.exe file.
  • type in: regsvr32 'C:\Program Files\TabletWeaver\VSPRINT7.ocx' and press enter, you should receive a message that the dll registered successfully.

If the software still says it is a demo version, the default.tab was not overwritten by the new one in the zip file, if you don't already have it, download the upgrade zip again, and make sure to put the files in the Tabletweaver program directory, and that you reply YES to overwrite files.

Patterns created with version 1.2 may appear differently in version 1.3 because the home position of the cards was changed to a more standard position (AB in front). Modifying the turn sequence may fix this.

That's it. Enjoy.

At long last, the new and improved TabletWeaver v1.3 software! Yes I said I wouldn't enhance the software or fix some of the minor bugs, but, well, um, okay, I screwed up. Who knew the A-B holes should be in front and not on Top? Ah, the joys of being self-taught. Made perfect sense to me, I just didn't realize the rest of the tablet weaving world did it differently than I did.

This is software I developed after looking at some of the other offerings out on the net. I just had real problems with converting what I designed through their software into a real band. My software is by no means perfect, or feature rich, but it allows me to develop a band, see how it looks before weaving, and translate that look into a real band that is faithful to the original design.

Here is a screenshot of my software. Below that is the image of the pattern to follow while turning.
